This week is...

Top Ten Best/ Worst Series Enders!

Lets start with the Best first.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, need I say more?

2. Return of the King, again need I say more?

And for the worst....

3. Whatever the last Twilight was. Overall the series let me down. I didn't even finish it.

4. Mockingjay... The series lost momentum for me.

Just a note that sadly this is all I have finished or gotten almost to the end. I am working on the Game of Thrones, The Selection, The Lunar Chronicles, and Hush Hush. There are more but these are the ones that are on my to read list soon.

I tend to read stand alone novels more than series as I usually am let down by the end. Again I am unable to come up with ten.

A Little Insight

I started asking myself one question as I was walking through the book store the other day... Why do I choose the books I do? It honestly comes down to three things.

1. Colors: I can not stand bold looking books, and you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover. But if something is to bright I will avoid it. The brightest books on my shelf are HP 7 and TFIOS.

2. Author Recognition/ Title Recognition: If it is an author I know to be great by past reading experiences, or if I have heard good reviews of a title or author I am more likely to pick it up. That is what is so great about the book blog and book tube community. I never would have picked up the Lunar Chronicles if it were not for the rave reviews I kept hearing about them. And they may be my favorite reads of this year!

3. The back cover blurb. If a blurb can captivate me quickly or sparks some sort of interest then I will put it on a list to look up. If it is a book I know nothing about I then have to look it up before continuing on with a purchase.

If a book can hit the all three I will buy it, otherwise I wait for the library to get it. And if I loved it after borrowing it I will buy it. If not I didn't waist the money.

My Thoughts

Nope! Nope! Nope! Yes I am twenty three, yes I am aware of sexuality and just nope. This was so poorly written, even for smut. Just nope. There were characters poping out of thin air and having a great time and it held no plot.

Friday Wish List!

So I have decided to share once a week the books that have made it onto my wish list and why they are on my list. I will be setting up a page as well with the books and the date they were added to the wish list, and if I do ever get them when I do.

Everyone has been talking about Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell making me look into her as an author. I have not read anything by her, and seeing the title Fangirl... well it seems like the book for me. (My tumblr is crazyfangirlflailings after all.) Even from the blurb presented everywhere, this book just seems like a good fit.

Emmy never felt like part of her family. She was adopted from China. Her parents and sister tower over her and look like they came out of a Ralph Lauren catalog-- and Emmy definitely doesn't. After a scandalous photo of Emmy leads to vicious rumors around school, she threatens the boy who started it all on Facebook.

Justin and Emmy arrive at Heartland Academy, a reform school that will force them to deal with their issues, damaged souls with little patience for authority. But along the way they will find a ragtag group of teens who are just as broken, stubborn, and full of sarcasm as themselves. In the end, they might even call eachother friends.

My Thoughts

I found this book to be a quick read, I was always reading it between classes wanting to know what happens next. I really love Emmy and Justin, along with the rest of their "Breakfast Club" type of characters. It truly is an ensemble story about a group just told through the eyes of Emmy and Justin. 

It also proves that everyone has issues that they have to deal with, and its how you cope in the world that matters. I found myself cheering for each and every character as they took a step forward in the system of Heartland. Granted I hated the place as much as the kids do, each small success was greatness. I truly enjoyed this one.

This week is...

Top 10 Book Turn Offs!

1. Not always but for the most part third person can make me not want to read something. If the premise of the book isn't going to be the most amazing thing, than third person just kills it for me. 

2. If there are not strong females I can't. I just can't. If the book is about a girl becoming strong that is great, but if there is never any hope I just.... Nope.

3. I honestly can not stand love triangles. I can't stand them. I will read through them but I won't like it.

4. Bad cover art. I know you never judge a book by its cover, but if it is to bright I can't stand it.

5. Hype... odd yes, but the hype around twilight got me to read it and damn I hated those books. I didn't even finish them. Now I am scared when there is to much hype.

That is about it... I don't have ten for this one.
